Door Check Rod, '62 to '79 Bug and Super Beetle
This is the mechanism for keeping the driver or passenger door from opening too far, which will cause damage to the door and mirror. The door check is located in the door jamb area and has a rubber bumper built into it to act as a shock absorber.
